MISSING LETTERS III: TRICK OR TREAT

For Dictionary Day 2016, HH put together a new missing letters game that—12,500 attempts later—has since become our most popular game. Ever. Some people struggled (the average score is a not-too-shabby 13/30). Others excelled (far too many people scored top marks). But the consensus was that you lovely people liked it. A lot. So...

To keep everyone happy (and to shamelessly jump on the Halloween bandwagon), we’ve two new versions of the game waiting to be played. For those of you who found the previous game a challenge, we have a treat: an easier (well, easy-ish) version. And for those of you who like a challenge, we have a trick: a brand new expert-level version. Take your pick...

As always feel free to share, and let us know how you get on over on Twitter. Good luck!

MISSING LETTERS: TREAT

Same rules as always: click PLAY in the box below, and you’ll be given 30 three-letter words. Above them will be a nine-letter word with its middle three letters missing—all you have to do is pick the correct three-letter word to fill in the gap. So if the clue was DIS___TLE, you’d pick MAN to spell DISMANTLE. If the clue was TOM___ISH, you’d pick BOY to spell TOMBOYISH. And there’s only three minutes on the clock...

Let us know how you get on over on Twitter—and good luck!
