MISSING WORDS

Well, well, well. Somehow all the word-nerdery and etymological jiggery-pokery Haggard Hawks dishes out on Twitter every day has managed to attract 30,000 of you lovely people to our door. So a huge—nay, a yuge—thank you to all of you for following, sharing, commenting, and just generally being brilliant. Let’s all have a party, eh? You bring the drink, HH will bring the dictionaries.

But we could hardly let a milestone like this go by unnoticed, so brace yourselves—if you thought our other missing letters games were dastardly, here’s something to really get that grey matter... doing... whatever it is grey matter does.

Click PLAY in the box below, and you’ll be shown 40 six-letter words. Above them will be two sets of four letters. All you have to do is pick a six-letter word that can be dropped between these letters to make two seven-letter words.

So if the clue was UTEN___ | ___RUCA, you’d pick SILVER, because it can fill in the gaps to spell UTENSIL and VERRUCA.

If the clue was HOTS___ | ___ASED, you’d pick PURPLE, because it can fill in the gaps and spell HOTSPUR and PLEASED.

Get the idea? Good. Oh, and by the way—there’s only 5 minutes on the clock... Let us know how you many you can correctly match over on Twitter—and good luck!
